In the video "Up Against the Wall Hippie!" Cops use their squad car to smash a suspect against...a wall. Certain to be a big hit with all police jurisdictions! Cops taser a woman over 20 times in 40 seconds in "Bitch be Quiet!" -All the glorious sadism caught on tape! You can't find action like this in civilized societies!!! Only in America and Canada! This deal won't last forever, so get this classic police brutality footage now before the Revolution makes this daily routine of violence obsolete!" -Marc Emery

Yes, it's a bit old, but it's a perfect example of typical police behaviour in major cities all over the world when there's a protest they can use as an excuse. This is the part that never gets shown on the news. The only difference is that it's caught on video, often the police take the cameras:

Breaking Ranks, an ex cop speaks out on police culture:

Just in time for the 2010 Olympics, David Malmo Levine's short review of police brutality cases in Vancouver from 1969-2002.

Out of control police is a worldwide phenomena. This is no accident. Professional law enforcement will always, inevitably, become corrupt and violent toward citizens because the kinds of people who are attracted to police work tend to be the worst kinds of people. We would be much better off with locally based volunteer police who serve short terms, never more than a year so they don't become entrenched. The reason this isn't done is because governments, also inevitably corrupt, need police to be aloof from the public, a different species than the average citizen. That is why police corruption is encouraged by governments. Good people don't enforce bad laws, and corrupt governments need bad laws to be enforced because bad laws are profitable to the wealthy elite who own all mainstream political parties and media, and so by default, all governments as well.

Lying is an essential part of law enforcement culture. Everyone knows this already, but it's interesting to see an ex-cop admit it.
